A day in London!

We took the train from where we are into London yesterday (to help us stay awake) and had a nice day exploring the city a bit! there is way too much to see in one day. we enjoyed taking a boat tour up the River Thames and ended in Greenwich; "where time began"

Books by Wendell Berry

Becky and I have recently finished reading Hannah Coulter by Berry and I followed that up by reading his Nathan Coulter. They are two of the many novels he has written, each detailing the story of different characters from a small country town called Port Williams. We have heard that Jayber Crow is one of his better novels so we are about to start that one.

The Everlasting Man - In this work, G. K. Chesteron explains how Christianity stands apart from all the other "religions" of the world. He shows how Christianity uniquely brings together the best of ancient mythology and philosophy. He does way more than this, but this is enough to give you an idea of what the book is about.

Almost French - Sarah Turnbull gives funny and real life stories from her years living in Paris. As an Australian married to a Frenchman, she offers unique insight into the culture. This semi-autobiography/Parisienne commentary was a delight to read.

Gift from the Sea - I'm slowly working my way through this thoughtful classic by Anne Lindbergh (wife of Charles Lindbergh). So much wisdom and insight on life, using the sea and shells to inspire meditations on peace, solitude, marriage, age, contentment and being at rest. It sparks in me a longing for quiet and simplicity.
