On the Menu

"On the Menu" is a new series dedicated to my favorite recipes that I have recently made and photographed. This is one of my favorite cookie recipes! Hope you enjoy.

Henry and Maudie's Oatmeal Cookies
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup sifted whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups rolled oats
DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets. Stir together the whole wheat flour, salt and baking soda; set aside.
2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in the egg,
water and vanilla. Mix in the flour mixture, then stir in the oats. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets. Cookies should be about 2 inches apart.
3. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove from baking sheets to cool on wire racks.

Becky - Those cookies look amazing. I look forward to more of your tried and true recipies.

I'm thankful to have found your site (via Cynthe). It's been neat to read about life in Macedonia. I've been praying for you and your dear family and pray specifically that you press on in serving Him. I really look forward to debriefing about your time when we are both back in the states!

With love and prayers!
